$22m Funding for Audience Intelligence Firm Piano

New York-based audience intelligence technology and digital content monetization company Piano has raised $22m in a Series B round of funding, to be used for R&D, client services, expansion into new verticals, and possible acquisitions.

Trevor KaufmanPiano's platform is used to help media companies target and analyze dedicated audiences. This includes a subscription commerce engine (Piano VX), a customer experience toolkit (Piano Composer), and a user management system (Piano ID) that work together for media businesses across digital platforms. Last year, the firm opened European headquarters in Amsterdam.

The round was led by Update Partners. Piano CEO Trevor Kaufman (pictured) comments: 'This funding will allow us to continue to serve our growing client base by enhancing our products and services, helping content businesses build dedicated audiences and grow their profitability. Our platform gives content companies a 360-degree view of their audience, and uses that data to drive the optimal messages, experiences, and offers. Our goal is to help every web site grow their loyal user base, and to turn those users into retained, paying customers'.
