Cello Health Sells Pulsar to Access Intelligence

October 2 2019

UK-based advisory group Cello Health has sold its social media analysis software business Pulsar to comms software firm Access Intelligence for £4.5m. Cello Health says the sale will enable it to focus on its higher growth/margin healthcare business and its core 'Signal' business.

Francesco D'OrazioPulsar, which is based out of London, New York City and Los Angeles, was initially launched in 2013 under the name Pulsar TRAC (Topic, Reach, Audience, Content). The firm measures conversation reach, maps brand audiences and tracks content, while analysing the social media connections, interests and digital behaviour of the authors. For the year ended 31 December 2018, Pulsar generated unadjusted losses before tax of £1.0m from unaudited revenues of £7.0m and, as at 30 June 2019, had gross assets of £3.2m.

Pulsar, which comprises Fenix Media Limited and Face US Inc ('Pulsar'), has now been acquired by Access Intelligence, which develops SaaS products to support media, PR, marketing and communications clients. The £4.5m transaction will be payable in Access Intelligence shares, and of the 8,653,846 Shares to be issued to Cello, 229,327 will be assigned to Pulsar CEO Francesco D'Orazio (pictured).

Cello will continue to make use of Pulsar in partnership with Access Intelligence, where there is mutual client opportunity. Mark Scott, CEO of Cello, comments: 'We are delighted that Pulsar can now begin the next stage in its development as a business whilst enabling Cello to focus on its core healthcare activities. We look forward to the ongoing partnership with Access Intelligence, both as a shareholder and as an ongoing user of Pulsar.'
