Nielsen Gracenote Hires Emmy Winner for Product Role

In the US, media and entertainment data provide Nielsen Gracenote has appointed Emmy Award-winning David Faulknor as SVP Product Management.

David FaulknorAcquired by Nielsen in 2016, the business provides information for millions of movie and television listings and hundreds of millions of music tracks. The resulting data is used to drive customers to content and in return information is gathered about what those customers are consuming. Faulknor (pictured) joins from NBCUniversal where he was responsible for defining, designing and executing product direction for the NBC Sports, NBC Olympics, and Rotoworld digital properties. With direct responsibility for the company's Beijing, Vancouver, London, Sochi, Rio de Janeiro and PyeongChang Olympic initiatives, he developed viewing experiences enhanced by Gracenote Sports metadata. In recognition of the technical innovations relating to the sports event coverage he has brought to market over the course of his career, he has been awarded four Emmy Awards.

In his new role, Faulknor is responsible for delivering insights, analytics and data offerings to Nielsen and Gracenote clients. He will tap into the full range of both firms' datasets and resources in order to enhance existing product offerings and develop new syndicated solutions for the companies' sports clients. These will include offerings to analyze sports fan interests, media consumption and purchasing habits. In addition, Faulknor will lead efforts to merge the Nielsen Sports and Gracenote Sports product teams.

In a statement, the firm said: 'As the result of this strategic hire, the world's most popular sports federations, leagues and teams, in addition to the most forward thinking global brands, agencies and media companies, will benefit from new product offerings to inform smarter business decisions and drive deeper fan engagement'.
