Video Interview: Gary Drenik, Prosper Insights & Analytics

For the third of our new video podcasts, we're Zooming In on Gary Drenik, co-founder and CEO of Prosper. If you're interested in the collection and modeling of consumer data (USA and China) this is a must.

Prosper's consumer data comes from large samples, is scrupulously compiled and goes back... way back. Supplying a retail 'currency' for the National Retail Federation since 2003, and offering it for analysis through the Amazon Web Services cloud since 2009, the company has expanded into providing 'Alternative Data' for financial clients, and in 2019 launched customizable library 'The Model Factory', also on AWS.

Gary started out in teaching, then radio advertising, and had planned with business partner Phil Rist on buying a radio station, but after a chance meeting ended up telling Phil in a cafe one morning: 'We're not going into the radio business, we're going into the research business... I don't know anything about it, but this guy's going to teach us'.
