Tokyo-based online specialist Macromill has launched a Life Science Business, which will conduct research and acquire biochemical data relating to healthcare, and use panels for human clinical trials concerning health promotion and disease prevention.
Headquartered in Tokyo with 50 offices across the Americas, EMEA and Asia Pacific and employing 2,500 experts worldwide, Macromill comprises a number of specialist companies which provide data and insights. They include MetrixLab, Dentsu Macromill Insight, M-Cube, Precision Sample, and H.M. Marketing Research, among others.
The new division will use the group's consumer panels, including more than 1.3 million people in Japan, to gather awareness and behavioral data from purchase information, ad exposure history, Internet access logs, and location information. This data will be managed centrally, cross-referenced with attribute data such as gender, age and residence. In addition, the business will measure and analyze brain waves, heart rate, gaze and other biological responses.
Macromill will also create a system for acquiring data relating to human clinical trials, through a partnership with Healthcare Systems, Inc., which analyzes trials using its postal test kits and biomarkers; and Macromill will build a health database in partnership with Human Metabolome Technologies.
In a statement, the company said it had received an increasing number of requests from clients about using its proprietary panels for human clinical trials relating to health promotion and disease prevention, as well as the acquisition and use of biochemical data. In response, the company established a dedicated department in 2020 to evaluate a potential business launch. 'Now', says the firm, 'building on that experience, and based on its solid relationships with a wide-ranging group of about 2,800 client companies in Japan, Macromill is launching the new Life Science Business in anticipation of further growth in demand'.
