Online Measurement Launch

Internet audience specialist Nielsen//NetRatings has this week launched a new audited census-based Internet measurement product - Market Intelligence. The launch results from product consolidation following the recent acquisition of RedSheriff.

With the addition of Market Intelligence, Nielsen//NetRatings now offers five key services, the others being NetView, SiteCensus, Market Intelligence, AdIntelligence and Custom Research services. The company covers 70% of the world's Internet usage and offers audience measurement services both for individual web sites and the competitive Internet landscape.

Managing Director Australia, Mark Henning, commented, 'We are delighted to add Market Intelligence to our product portfolio. Our clients have been calling for a 3rd party audited census-based metric for specific industries. Utilising business effectiveness metrics including unique browsers, page impressions, frequency and session duration, Market Intelligence complements our existing product suite by providing remarkable depth within vertical markets'.

'Our customers can now gain insights into weekly, in addition to monthly variations within the competitive landscape' adds Henning, 'and comprehensive, census based pictures of actual State, Australian and global traffic to a Web site. Innovative new technologies also allow Market Intelligence measurement data to be supplemented with industry specific demographics collected from the audited sites'.

This week's launch sees specific Market Intelligence coverage for the Australian automotive, employment and real estate markets, for which tables are given below. The product is expected to be extended to a large range of industries before the end of this year.

In other news, John Caldwell, former UK Director of RedSheriff anf Nielsen//NetRatings' Director of Research, Europe, announced this week that he was leaving the company.
