Long-time Cint Exec Richard Thornton Named Walr NED

Long-time Cint executive Richard Thornton has joined UK-based data creation platform Walr as a Non-Executive Director (NED).

Walr opened at the end of 2020 and the following September acquired research tech business QuenchTec. The company offers the research industry data creation solutions, drawing on an audience of millions, combined with data visualisation. Features of the platform include a survey builder, panel manager, analysis and reporting, and data distribution.

Thornton (pictured) joins with more than twenty years' experience in consulting and commercial roles within the data and insights industry; most recently as an Operating Partner for venture capital firm J12 Ventures, where Cint founder and former CEO Bo Mattsson is the Founding Partner. Prior to this, Thornton spent more than a dozen years at Cint Group, where he most recently helped lead the business to a successful Initial Public Offering. Earlier in his career, he worked for panels pioneer Ciao Surveys, helping to establish operations in Sydney and then working as its European Sales Head and European MD, before leaving to join Cint in a new UK MD position. At Cint, Thornton latterly served as Deputy CEO, COO and Chief Commercial Officer.

Thornton is also a Board member at supply chain data-driven insights provider Achilles Information; Inex One | The Expert Network Marketplace; and B2B data collection firm Shepper; and he is a NED/Board member at consumer insights business Vypr.
