New European Power

September 21 2004

Automotive research giant J.D. Power and Associates has announced two strategic moves to enhance its offering in Europe and internationally. A second regional office for Europe will be opened in Munich, whilst in the UK the company has acquired Oxford-based forecaster and analyst LMC Automotive Services, Ltd.

The German office will be established by newly appointed MD for Germany David Lauth, who has long experience of working on the retail side of the automotive business in South Africa and England. He worked previously for Urban Science and JATO Dynamics.

According to J.D. Power IV, Executive VP of International Operations, 'We have been successful at bringing a better understanding of the voice of the customer to German companies, and we see tremendous opportunities to help companies integrate that voice into their operations. Basing David in this new office allows our firm to serve our German clients better and meet emerging opportunities'.

The London office was established in 1996 and works in the UK, French, Italian and German markets. J.D. Power has worked closely with LMC Automotive Services since the same year and a joint venture (as J.D. Power-LMC) has provided the industry with light-vehicle sales, production and powertrain forecasts and insights.

'Combining our forecasting operations in the United States and the UK will accelerate our strategy to provide continued quality, innovative products, services and automotive intelligence and consistency across the industry', in the words of Steve Goodall, J.D. Power's President and CEO.

Other international offices are in Tokyo, Singapore, Sydney and Toronto, with five in the USA, with a web site at www.jdpower.com
