J.D. Power and Associates has announced the opening of a new office in Shanghai, China, and appointed partner John Humphrey as its MD. The company's offices in Tokyo and Singapore have been conducting automotive customer satisfaction studies in China since the year 2000.
Humphrey, who has spent 15 years with the firm, also adds the title of Senior Vice President of International Operations. The new office is located at 3515, CITIC Square, 1168 Nanjing West Road.
The company conducts four main annual studies in China: the Initial Quality Study (IQS), which measures new-vehicle quality; the Sales Satisfaction Index (SSI) Study; the Customer Service Index (CSI) Study, covering the service process at the dealership; and the Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study, measuring consumer perceptions on the design, features and performance of their new vehicles.
According to Humphrey, 'Establishing a representative office in Shanghai allows us to enhance our client services in China and quickly respond to client questions and needs. Our focus will be to assist automotive OEMs improve performance within the Chinese market as well as serve as a resource as they begin to look to export to markets outside of China'.
