With the tax return deadline today and fines for late filing, UK taxpayers are rushing to the web site of the Inland Revenue, according to online measurement specialist Hitwise. Visits to the site are up 48% since the first week of January.

The site, www.inlandrevenue.gov.uk , allows users to file their tax return form online, and held a 5.2% share of the online government sector for the week ending January 22nd, just behind the Government category's leader Job Centre Plus (5.6%).
