mediasense was founded by Graham Brown and Andy Pearch in 2009. The firm operates a media auditing platform called DiPA (Digital Performance Analytics), powered by a proprietary insight engine, machine learning techniques and a team of analysts and data scientists. Majority-owned since 2021 by private equity firm Apiary Capital, it bought PwC's Marketing & Media advisory team in 2024, bringing its headcount to around 110.
Former Accenture Song exec Posnanski took the CEO job in December 2024, replacing co-founder Brown who moved to the role of Executive Chairman, and stepped back further last year. Tomlinson (pictured) joined the firm in the CCO role in 2024, following the acquisition - he was previously leader of the acquired PwC business, which he founded. He spent a total of twenty-four years at PwC, having joined it as a Trainee in 1999.
Brown, now a Director of mediasense, comments: 'When we welcomed Sam and his team into mediasense in 2024, we brought one of the industry's most respected marketing advisory leaders into the business. Since then, he has had a clear impact on our clients, our people and our strategic direction. Sam brings strong commercial insight, deep client knowledge and a very clear view of where marketing is heading. The Board is confident he is the right person to lead mediasense and delighted he has agreed to take on this role.' He adds: 'I would also like to thank Jamie Posnanski for his contribution to mediasense and wish him all the best for the future.'
