Senior Appointments for Synovate

Synovate has announced senior hires and promotions in Asia and North America. Rob Myers joins as Canadian MD while in Singapore there are four appointments in the management team.

Myers was previously Global Head of Strategy and Corporate Development for the firm's parent, Aegis Group plc, working with the Aegis Board of Directors on company strategy and acquisitions in a period when Synovate has grown rapidly.

Before working in media and MR, he handled strategic planning for American Express and Barclays Bank. He holds an MBA from INSEAD Business School in France and a CA (Canadian Chartered Accountant) obtained with PricewaterhouseCoopers Canada. Myers grew up in Canada but has lived and worked in Europe for the past nine years.

The company's Singapore management team is growing as part of the ongoing expansion strategy and the strengthening of its South East Asian market position, according to Singapore MD Miranda Cheung. Four appointments / promotions were announced this week:

Darren Smith, who joined the company in 2004, is promoted to the position of General Manager of Synovate Singapore. He takes overall responsibility for all operational and financial aspects of the Singapore customised research division. He was previously Asia Pacific Director of Synovate subsidiary ViewsCast, quadrupling its revenues between 2004 and 2006. He holds an Executive Masters in Business Administration (EMBA) from the University of Chicago, and in his spare time runs a private investment club.

Betty Wu has been appointed as Research Director for the Quantitative Research Division, with responsibility for overall management as well as development of key accounts in the IT, telecoms and media market sectors. She joined the group's predecessor company eight years ago and was most recently Research Director in her home country of Hong Kong. She holds a Masters of Science in Financial Management from the University of London and Bachelor of Arts in English Studies from the University of Hong Kong.

Radhecka Roy, whose previous employers include Tebbutt Research in Fiji and TNS India, joins as Research Director for the Qualitative Research Division. At Tebbutt she was General Manager of Qualitative, successfully developing the qual division in Fiji and the Pacific Islands. At TNS India she was National head for Qual.

Cassandra Pang is the firm's new Human Resources Manager, with a remit to oversee all strategic and operational aspects of HR for the Singapore office but also to implement global HR policies and best practice. She worked previously as HR Manager of waste management company Veolia Environmental Services Group, a member of the Onyx group.
