Hitwise Hires Nielsen Analyst as Director of Research

In the US, online audience measurement firm Hitwise has appointed former Nielsen Online Senior Retail Analyst Heather Dougherty as Director of Research.

Heather DoughertyDougherty joins with more than 10 years of research and online analysis experience. In her position at Nielsen, she provided strategic analysis on industry and publishing research projects. Prior to this, she spent four years with Jupiter Research covering the online retail and commercial space, including marketing and promotions, merchandising and personalisation. She has a BSc in Business Administration and Marketing from The Ohio State University.

'Heather is a well known and respected figure within the online industry,' said Bill Tancer, General Manager of Global Research. 'Her retail experience, coupled with a solid understanding of the online market, is a tremendous asset for our business.'

Hitwise, which was bought last year by information giant Experian for $240m cash (mrweb.com/drno/news6691.htm ), monitors how 25 million consumers use and search the Internet, providing data which enables companies to determine which are the best web sites on which to advertise, which search engines drive traffic to their sites and which key words are most effective.
