Boston Analytics Co-Brands Indian Consumer Index

February 20 2009

In India, knowledge services firm Boston Analytics has partnered with financial news channel CNBC-TV18 to re-launch its monthly barometer of Indian consumer opinion and consumption.

The re-branded 'CNBC-TV18 Boston Analytics Consumer Confidence Index' will provide feedback on the state and future expectations of the macro economy, household financial conditions and consumption.

It is designed to measure consumer confidence in India over time, with data drawn from a monthly survey of 8,300 respondents across fifteen Indian cities.

Questions address both macro and micro level variables known to affect consumer confidence - these relate to general economic conditions, employment, inflation, interest rates, real estate, household financial conditions, household income, spending plans, and savings.

Results will be broadcast on CNBC-TV18's channel and telecast programs.

Speaking about the partnership, CNBC-TV18 VP of Marketing Neel Chowdhury said: 'The index will be the largest in the world. The CCI will not only add a totally new dimension to our programming mix, but more importantly it will provide India Inc. with a tool to gauge consumer sentiment, a subject that holds the key to its fortunes.'

Last month, the index recorded a slight improvement, increasing to 80.0 from December's reading of 79.2. Prior to this, the indices registered six months of continuous decline.

Boston Analytics is headquartered in Boston with offices in New York, London, and Mumbai. Web site: www.bostonanalytics.com .
