October 1 2025

Japan-based GMO-Z.com Research has rolled out an AI Interview-Optimized Respondent Network, enabling AI-moderated interviews with opted-in, quality-checked respondents. The company aims to roll the Network out across the broader APAC region.

Network Numbers within JapanLed by Global CEO Shinichi Hosokawa, GMO-Z.com is the global brand of GMO Research & AI, itself supported by GMO Internet Group, one of Japan's largest Internet conglomerates. The firm taps a respondent network of more than 65 million consumers across 14 APAC markets, combined with regional sampling expertise and AI technology.

The firm says that with rising demand for consumers who are comfortable engaging in AI-driven interviews, 'the availability of dedicated AI-interview-ready respondents is becoming a key asset in supporting research needs across the region.' Building on its track record in online research sampling in Japan and across the APAC region, the new Network allows for flexibility in interview format, including text (c.56k participants), audio (19.5k) and video (11.6k). All these respondents have opted in for AI-driven interviews and passed quality checks through prior survey participation. Rewards are higher than standard surveys to encourage engagement and high-quality responses.

In developing the Network, the company conducted pilot surveys working with AI-moderated interview tools such as Outset, exploring respondents' willingness to engage in AI-driven interviews and identifying challenges. The result is 'an environment that ensures high-quality responses and strong engagement', according to the firm.
