Display Industry Pioneers Open Research Firm

June 11 2009

In the US, father and son team Barry and Ross Young have set up Young Market Research (YMR), which will provide marketing intelligence and consulting in the solar, solid-state lighting and display industries. The two are the founders of DisplaySearch and the OLED Association.

Barry and Ross YoungYMR will provide industry reports on supply, demand, company profiles and company financial performance, as well as cost models, forecasts and custom market/technology studies.

Son Ross, who becomes President of YMR, was previously VP of New Market Creation at Samsung Electronics' LCD Business, where he tracked, analyzed and assessed the solar market and supported the firm's market intelligence efforts. Before this, he founded flat panel display market research firm, DisplaySearch, which he sold to NPD Group in 2005.

YMR Vice President, Barry was previously a Senior Advisor and Consultant to DisplaySearch, before which, he was CEO and President of OWL Displays, VP and General Manager of Tandem's Integrity Systems Division, Managing Partner at Booz Allen & Hamilton, and a senior executive with Wells Fargo Bank and Citibank. He also serves as MD of the OLED Association, which serves the OLED display and lighting industries.

According to Dan Button, President and CEO of nanotechnology product company QD Vision: 'Ross and Barry Young have been the most influential and respected analysts in the flat panel industry. Their entry into solar and solid state lighting will raise the bar for market research in these highly competitive and significant industries.'

The Austin, Texas-based firm is online at www.youngmarketresearch.com .
