Former Synovate Leaders Launch PharmaGems

In the UK, Synovate Healthcare's former CEO Michael Spedding and CFO Peter Chopra have launched a healthcare marketing services firm, which will invest in and partner with individuals and independent businesses to drive growth in profits and capital value.

Michael Spedding and Peter ChopraMost recently at Synovate, Spedding had overall responsibility for the leadership of the firm's businesses in ANZ, Asia, China, Japan, CEEME, Africa, Southern Europe and Latin America. Prior to this, he was CEO of Synovate Healthcare for five years. He was previously COO at NOP World.

Chopra left Synovate in 2007 after completing more than 40 acquisitions. Since then, he founded Great Outcomes, to offer advice to firms planning to sell their businesses or make acquisitions; and he worked as a Partner at panel and online community specialist Verve.

Based mainly in London, but with a global reach, their new firm PharmaGems will offer senior leadership experience in healthcare market research, combined with expertise in corporate development, and mergers and acquisitions.

According to Chopra, the firm's services are 'geared towards individuals needing resources, contacts and expertise for a successful launch; businesses seeking to enter new markets, develop new products and break through 'glass ceilings'; and mature businesses looking to engineer their business for sale and optimise exit value'.

Additional support will be offered in the form of:

  • 'PharmaGems Dragons' who will provide input and investment for new ventures
  • Partnerships with experts in training; and marketing and communications.
