In the US, social media software company Clearspring has appointed former Yahoo! ad exchange leader Ramsey McGrory as Chief Executive Officer, replacing founder Hooman Radfar, who will continue to drive the company's product and marketing in his new role as Executive Chairman.
Founded in 2004, Clearspring offers the AddThis platform, through which visitors can share articles, videos and other content across their social networks. The company collates related consumer data, and uses it to connect brands with millions of Internet users in real-time, while its Audience Platform aggregates influence and intent data from across AddThis.
McGrory joins from Yahoo!, where he led the online ad exchange and data business Right Media. Prior to joining the company in 2004, he was Director, Direct Response & Creative at agency MaxWorldwide, and Strategic Advertisers Sales Executive at DoubleClick. Earlier in his career, McGrory served as Assistant Vice President at Citigroup Global Markets and worked as a Treasury Analyst at NationsBank.
Commenting on the appointment, Radfar said on the firm's blog: 'Ramsey's deep understanding of advertising and data, coupled with a demonstrated ability to deliver value to publishers, advertisers and consumers make him an invaluable addition. Together with our already impressive team, Board and investors, we're confident that this move will help us continue our fantastic growth by better serving our customers.'
