D&B Buys Social Media Data Matching Firm Fliptop

April 22 2014

Business information provider Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) has acquired the social media data matching unit of online data aggregation specialist Fliptop. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Bob CarriganSan Francisco-based Fliptop offers a cloud-based predictive platform which combines public web data with internal CRM and marketing application data. Following the acquisition, Fliptop's this matching technology will enable D&B to link unstructured social media profiles with existing business data, in order to gain a 'more comprehensive' view of people and businesses.

The combined capabilities will be integrated into D&B's solutions, while Fliptop will continue to operate as an independent, non-affiliated company.

Bob Carrigan (pictured), President, CEO and Director at D&B, comments: 'This acquisition is a significant step forward in providing our customers with the most comprehensive data and insights around the people and businesses that matter most to them. Introducing rich social media data that matches people with public profiles to the 230 million businesses in our database will offer our customers an edge in an increasingly digital sales and marketing environment.'
