Nielsen Gets Full Marks for Equality Approach

November 20 2014

In the US, Nielsen has secured a perfect score of 100% on the 2015 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), which provides a national benchmark survey of corporate policies and practices relating to LGBT workplace equality.

Nielsen Gains Full Marks for LGBT EqualityProduced by civil rights organization the Human Rights Campaign, the latest CEI rated 972 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual) related policies and practices. These include non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive healthcare benefits, competency programs, and public engagement with the LGBT community.

Nielsen ranks alongside 364 other non-market research-related businesses, which also earned top marks this year, and following recent changes to its internal US benefits policies, the firm is now among those considered as a 'best place to work' for LGBT equality.

Angela Talton, SVP, Diversity and Inclusion, comments: 'We wouldn't be where we are today without the strong commitment to diversity displayed at all levels of the organization. Nielsen is fostering an environment where diverse perspectives and experiences thrive - it's part of our DNA.'
