Thomas Industrial Data Launches for Supply Chain Trends

April 1 2020

In New York, product sourcing, supplier selection, and marketing solutions business Thomas has launched a division called Thomas Industrial Data, to provide a resource for sourcing and supply chain trends across the manufacturing and industrial sectors.

Tom Greco and AI Hamid BenbrahimEach month, the Thomasnet.com platform is accessed by more than 1,500,000 buyers, charged with sourcing products and services from 70,000+ categories, containing 500,000+ North American suppliers, and 7,800,000+ product listings. The firm says this sourcing activity creates petabytes of market and industry trend data; and the new division has already used this data to create the Thomas Manufacturing Index (TMX). TMX has been developed to reflect industrial activity across the US and Canada, logging the impact of supply chain sourcing activity, project planning, and commercial spending confidence on the economy.

Its new Thomas Industrial Data business unit will be led by Tom Greco, Vice President of Data Products and Services who spent the previous ten years as the Head of Product for Thomasnet.com; and Head of Data and AI Hamid Benbrahim, who joined Thomas from Natural Numerix to lead the Data Science team and unite the multiple data sets and resources within the company. Benbrahim comments: 'I'm excited to join Thomas and be a part of the team building our Thomas Industrial Data business. The data we use to run our core business can also be a valuable service for financial and industry analysts, and I'm excited to help serve this growing marketplace as we bring the data revolution to the industrial space'.
