DoubleVerify Creates Chief Product Officer Role

US-based digital media measurement software and analytics specialist DoubleVerify (DV) has hired former GroupM exec Jack Smith for the newly created role of Chief Product Officer, Demand Solutions.

Jack SmithAcquired by private equity firm Providence Equity Partners in 2017, DV offers MRC-accredited software that verifies the quality and effectiveness of digital ads. Its DV Authentic Impression solution provides clients with a single KPI to ensure each ad impression is viewable, fraud-free and meets brand safety requirements; and the firm also offers a suite of media authentication services called IQ Advanced Solutions, to increase the transparency and performance of video and display ads across mobile and desktop platforms.

Smith (pictured) joins after more than seven years at WPP-owned media investment company GroupM, where he served as Global Chief Product Officer, responsible for product and tech design and development for media investment, data management, finance and other functions; and with five patents in artificial intelligence and AI, Smith also serves on the Board of WPP's Data Alliance. Earlier, he worked for audience-based TV advertising firm Simulmedia as Chief Product Officer; co-founded a company called Solariat, which used AI and machine learning to automate ad creative generation; and founded and managed WPP's Media Innovation Group (which became audience-based ad buying, planning and research specialist Xaxis). Earlier he served as SVP, Product Strategy at WPP's digital ad and tech company 24/7 Real Media.

In his new role, Smith will be responsible for advancing DV's agency and brand advertiser solutions portfolio, with a focus on emerging channels such as CTV; and he will also lead all strategy and implementation efforts related to scaling the company's product development and commercialization activities. Based in DV's New York office, he will report to COO Matt McLaughlin, who comments: 'Jack's one of the most respected technologists in the industry, with a proven track record of product innovation and digital transformation.
