Nielsen has launched a series of quarterly reports called the 'Local Streaming Insights Quarterly Solution', providing metrics on TV app usage for more than twenty major streaming apps at the local market level.
Nielsen's local TV measurement includes person-level demographics for traditional cable, satellite, broadband only and over-the-air viewers. The company reports viewing across devices and delivers direct person measurement, inclusive of incremental out-of-home audiences in select markets, through its proprietary Portable People Meter (PPM).
The firm's new reports are available for the top 56 local markets and include insights on subscription streaming services such as Netflix, ad-supported streaming services including Pluto TV, and MVPD and vMVPD apps such as DirecTV Stream. Nielsen says that for the first time, its clients will have access to syndicated reports with streaming insights that are specific to the local audiences they are targeting.
Catherine Herkovic (pictured), EVP and Managing Director of Nielsen Local, comments: 'We are delighted to provide a new and impactful solution to support our clients' understanding of the rapidly evolving viewing landscape. We are committed to working alongside our clients to help them deliver on their business objectives and access valuable local audiences at a deeper level'.
