iMotions Debuts Biometric Tools for Academia

February 29 2024

Behavioural understanding specialist iMotions has unveiled EduLabs, a platform integrating biometric technology solutions for use by academic institutions, departments and students.

Peter HartzbechThe Danish company, which launched version 10 of its eponymous main platform last month, says Edulabs is a scalable holistic academic ecosystem 'powerful and dynamic enough to support rigorous academic research', but also giving students experience using methods and technologies used outside academia.

The solution's 'online component' is a browser-based, intuitive software platform, targeted for groups of 20 to 100 for studies using eye tracking and facial expression analysis tools. This is combined with a 'Lab component' with a full suite of tools for intuitive design of complex studies supporting 'any stimuli - from the real world to virtual reality'. It features built-in integrations for popular biosensors and eye trackers, and tools to analyze and annotate data live and generate heatmaps, graphs and tables.

The platform allows for collaborations and expansion beyond a single discipline, department or institution, and facilitates partnerships between academia and industry, according to the firm, which ads: 'Universities can leverage EduLabs to become market research arms for corporations, solidifying their position as invaluable partners in research and insights'.

iMotions CEO and founder Peter Harzbech (pictured) comments: 'We believe that human behavior research will be a cornerstone of academia - for students, researchers and institutions as a whole. EduLabs has been imagined and developed with this in mind: giving students access to the essential research tools of tomorrow, powering deeper academic studies, and creating a foundation for revenue-generating partnerships - all of which can help propel institutions forward'.
