New Pharma Agency Offers Patient-Centric Approach

May 27 2009

In the UK, a group of entrepreneurs has launched a research agency, Innovate Solutions. The founders believe observational data in increasingly important to pharmaceutical companies, as well as to patients as consumers of healthcare.

Using digital technology that interacts with and educates the patient, the new firm plans to open up what it describes as a 'new level of patient understanding'. The company says this technology creates a more interactive research platform which drives dialogue with the patient better than, for example, traditional face-to-face or online methodologies.

Lead investor Des Glover has more than 35 years' experience within the financial services industry, having previously held a number of senior executive positions at TSB Bank, and set up his own consultancy. The firm's pharmaceutical expertise comes from partners and a network of consultants who work in marketing and research, and whose specific research skills will be tailored to project teams and client needs.

They are supported by Operations Director Sally Hill, who joins with nearly ten years' fieldwork experience working agency-side in the pharma sector.

'Instead of collecting data for analysis from a single interaction, patient dialogue creates a continuing conversation probing the needs and the view of the patient,' explained Hill. 'This provides a deeper understanding of what patients seek from their medication and medical treatment.'

Innovate Solutions' digital partner is Elevator Learning, which focuses solely on healthcare communications. The firm provides specialised consultancy and e-solutions such as a desk-top widget that patients can use to record information about levels of pain, mood, and medication taken.

The new firm is online at: www.innovatepatientsolutions.com .
