MTdiamTtrie Debuts Internet Radio Measure

June 18 2009

French media research agency Médiamétrie has launched a service to measure Internet radio streaming and podcasts on a monthly basis.

Franck Si-HassenThe firm will analyse data from media and broadcast companies including Lagardere, NextRadioTV, NRJ, Radio France, RFI, RTL and online radio association SYROL.

Médiamétrie's e-Stat technology will then tabulate the number of podcasts downloaded, the number of sessions and the length of time spent listening to 'catch-up' radio, and the number of sessions and length of time audiences spend listening to Internet radio and live streamed transmissions.

Franck Si-Hassen, Deputy Director of Médiamétrie eStat, says the new tool will 'provide a baseline measurement for the different ways of listening to Internet radio.' The survey will start in September and preliminary results will be delivered to customers in October.

Médiamétrie, which measures the audiences of radio, Internet, cinema, mobile phone and cross-media, last year reported a turnover of EUR 58m. Its e-Stat division develops Internet traffic and user-behaviour measurement tools.
