Polk Rolls Out Online National Vehicle Data

June 19 2009

US automotive research agency RL Polk & Co is rolling out an online version of its National Vehicle Population Profile (NVPP) data, through a portal which offers clients easier, faster and broader availability of vehicle statistics.

NVPP was launched on CD-ROM more than 15 years ago to help clients analyze the vehicle population in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico. It offers information on more than 240 million passenger cars and trucks registered on the road, including exact models of vehicles, engine detail, body style and information grouped by zip code, state and other criteria.

The new online version is updated quarterly to allow clients to view up to five quarters of information. In its updated format, the tool can now be accessed across an entire organization, rather than just through one or two terminals or computers at a customer location.

'By allowing our customers to access NVPP via the web, we are providing the quickest access and easiest navigation of vehicle statistics possible,' said Mark Seng, VP-Sales and Client Services. 'It also demonstrates Polk's continuing technology improvement as we look for additional ways to meet the evolving requirements of our customers.'

Polk is based in Southfield, Michigan, with operations in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan, Spain, the UK and the US.
