Social Media Analytics Firm Names New CEO

In Belgium, social media analytics firm Attentio has promoted Amaia Lasa to the position of CEO, in place of co-founder Simon McDermott, who has taken on the role of UK Country Manager and Chief Communication Officer.

Amaia LasaBrussels-based Attentio uses its Brand Dashboard to monitor and analyze social media such as blogs, Twitter and news articles, in order to provide real-time insights into consumer behaviour and attitudes.

Lasa joined the firm as COO in 2007, and last March was promoted to the post of Chief Marketing Officer, with a remit to expand the company's sales and marketing in Europe. Before this, she held market research, e-commerce marketing, IT development and people & process management positions at FedEx and Toyota.

'This is a natural next step in Attentio's development and I am confident that Amaia will guide the company to new levels of profitability, activity and growth,' commented McDermott. 'She brings a wealth of management and IT experience that is crucial for the current stage of our aggressive market expansion strategy.'

In a move to strengthen the management team, Attentio's Principal Founder Per Siljubergsåsen has been appointed Chief Product Officer, to work closely with newly appointed CTO Frizo Janssens on the firm's patent-pending analytics technology.

In addition, Kelkoo.com co-founder and investor William Klippgen will join the Board of Directors.
