NPD Rolls Out Store-Level Beauty Data

US-based retail intelligence specialist The NPD Group has launched its first ever store level information service for the beauty industry.

With the release of the 'Market View Current Conditions Report', the firm's clients will be offered national and regional information, as well as new measures like sales rate and distribution data. Additional custom store groupings such as DMAs (Designated Market Areas) and groupings based on individual sales territories are also available.

The new report is based on information gathered from participating retailers on a weekly basis. Market level tracking also provides a monthly view of this data, aggregated at a regional level, as well as the ability to view other geographies.

'With more granular sales data, manufacturers and their retail partners can better understand their consumers and develop, monitor and improve marketing and sales efficiencies,' says NPD's Diane Nicholson, whose enviable job title is President, Beauty.

Last year, Information Resources Inc (IRI) and The NPD Group partnered to launch the Beauty Cross Channel Monitor, to provide insights for a wide range of beauty categories including fragrance, cosmetics and skincare available from US department stores, food, drug and mass outlets.
