Media Division Revenues Up 63% at Rentrak

US-based multi-screen tracking firm Rentrak has reported a 63% increase in revenues from its Advanced Media Information (AMI) division for the second quarter of the year, which it says reflects sales of its Essentials suite of multimedia measurement services.

The AMI segment, which represents 24% of consolidated revenues, contributed 43% of consolidated gross margin dollars for the second quarter of fiscal 2010, compared with 13% and 31% respectively in the corresponding prior-year period.

Consolidated revenues were down to $21.3m, compared with $24.3m in the same period in 2008.

Group selling and administrative expenses for the fiscal 2010 Q2 were up to $7.8m, or 37% of revenues, compared with $6.7m, or 27% of revenues in last year's second fiscal quarter.

Operating income was $502k (compared with $1.3m last year), and this included a total of $1.2m in one-time and non-cash stock compensation expenses comprising $400k in severance expense, $100k in legal expense and $700k in non-cash stock compensation expense.

Net income totaled $676k (or $0.06 per diluted share) for the second quarter of fiscal 2010, compared with $842k (or $0.08 per diluted share) for the second quarter of fiscal 2009.
