ESPN Sports Poll Extended to Europe

November 23 2009

TV sports network ESPN and TNS have extended their ESPN Sports Poll service to measure the attitudes and behaviors of sports fans in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK.

ESPN Sports Poll Extended Launched 15 years ago, the syndicated survey of US adults and teenagers tracks general sports fan profiles, viewing habits, event attendance and sports industry trends across more than 40 different sports.

It provides information on the success and overall performance of sponsorship and sports marketing programs. ESPN and TNS say that through the extension, marketers will be able to measure fan behaviors and interests as they consider investing in sporting events.

The survey will cover interest levels of sports most common in each country as well as traditional American and emerging sports. Questions regarding consumption (television, live attendance, online, etc) will lend depth to the attitudinal research, while brand preference questions will be added so that companies in specific industries can assess how their customers interact with sports.

'The insights we gather about European sports fans will not only help inform future decisions, but help us deliver on our mission to serve sports fans, wherever they are,' stated Artie Bulgrin, SVP at ESPN.
