Echometrix Splits into PULSE Data Analytics and FamilySafe

December 23 2009

US web analytics firm Echometrix has re-structured by splitting into two separate divisions - PULSE Data Analytics and FamilySafe.

Earlier this year, the PULSE Data Analytics division developed PULSE to provide insights into the buying patterns of teenage consumers. This is an advanced data analytics tool which enables the real-time aggregation, measurement, and analysis of anonymous User Generated Content (UGC) from publicly-available Internet sources such as blogs, forums and social networking applications such as Twitter.

PULSE combines data mining, trend mining and monitoring, natural language algorithmic processing, and market research, and delivers graphical displays and customizable reports. Echometrix is extending the platform by integrating new analytical capabilities, tools and solutions, and plans to release further details at its annual shareholders' meeting next month.

Through the FamilySafe Parental Controls division, Echometrix offers software products engineered to monitor, block and alert parents the moment a child encounters inappropriate material from any Internet or mobile related source.

As part of its restructure, the firm is launching a multi-language version of its FamilySafe Internet product, along with a new FamilySafe Mobile offering; a multi-language parental text monitoring product which can be used on any mobile phone.

'While this has been a challenging period for many companies, Echometrix is well positioned to grow,' stated CEO Jeffrey Greene. 'As we head into 2010, we are confident that we will achieve our business and financial objectives through the focused execution of our new corporate strategy as well as our comprehensive product offering.'

Earlier this year, Echometrix came under fire from the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC), which alleged the firm collects information about children's online activity to deliver targeted advertising to children, and sells this data to third parties conducting marketing intelligence research.

Echometrix strongly refutes this claim, saying it does not collect personally identifiable information or expose the source of any digital content, and that it has never collected, distributed or sold personal information as defined by COPPA (the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act), and will never do so.
