Sands Opens in UK, Adds Retail Specialist to Board

January 13 2010

US neuromarketing research specialist Sands Research Inc (SRI) has opened its first European office in Surrey, England, and appointed retail specialist Joe Oliver to its Board of Directors.

Dr Stephen SandsSands Research was established in 2007 by Chairman Dr Stephen Sands, and President & CEO Ron Wright, who previously founded EEG research software and equipment provider Neuroscan in the early 1990s.

After the sale of Neuroscan, Dr Sands and his research team initiated more than two years of research and development into the brain's response to advertising, which resulted in the launch of SRI's patent pending software that analyzes and scores media by a target subject group's engagement (The Sands Research Neuro Engagement Factor or NEF).

The firm has also developed a system for measuring and scoring objective brain responses from subjects during the storyboard stage of ad development.

'SRI has just completed another large European neuromarketing study and we believe the growth potential in the UK and Europe will match or exceed present interest in neuromarketing here in the States,' stated Wright.

The firm has now performed neuromarketing research studies for US, European and Asian-headquartered corporations, including working on the new 'Brain Bridge Program' for Japan's second largest ad agency Hakuhodo.

Oliver joins the firm's Board after a twenty year career in the retail and service industries. He is the President of retail intelligence firm RetailData Services, and previously served as President & CEO of apparel chain S&K Menswear, as Director of Mergers & Acquisitions at Davenport Corp, and in senior roles at KPMG.

'We welcome Joe to our Board and we believe he will bring valued advice and guidance to Sands Research with his extensive business and life experience,' stated Dr Sands. 'His experience and connections to the retail and major CPG corporations will truly benefit the growth of Sands Research.'
