Arbitron Adds to Radio Advisory Council

February 23 2010

Ratings giant Arbitron is expanding its Radio Advisory Council to increase the ethnic and technological diversity of the group.

Founded in 1978, the council consists mainly of broadcasters, who are invited to provide feedback and advice for the firm. Arbitron will add 10 new members to the council, bringing total membership to 32.

The firm has decided to add a representative for network radio, and will expand its urban and Spanish language broadcast representatives from one to two each, respectively. It will also add four more representatives from markets where diaries are still used.

The Council will discuss, sometimes jointly with Arbitron's Advertiser/Agency Council, issues such as the Portable People Meter. One key aim is to encourage more dialogue centered on improving communication and enhancing industry partnerships.

'The representatives serve as valuable customer advocates and their input helps Arbitron align our plans with industry priorities,' stated Arbitron's President and CEO, William Kerr. 'I look forward to our new meeting format, where I hope to engage in an open, two-way dialogue that will move the industry forward.'
