Data Capture Solution Upgraded

September 21 2010

US-based Optimum Solutions Corporation has released FACTS™, a new version of its data capture technology solution adding features including multi-level question definition, foreign language data entry, audio coding and dynamic survey processing.

FACTS, which stands for Fast Accurate Capture Technology Solutions, is the 'significantly enhanced' successor to FAQSS, which was introduced around twenty years ago. The new release takes a cue from the data capture expertise built up in that time and enables marketers and researchers 'for the first time to limitlessly mine the preferences of their audiences', according to EVP John Harrison. The new features come with recognition of the challenge of assessing increasingly fragmented audiences, the firm says.

Harrison says FAQSS is 'the only data capture system certified to offer better than 99% accuracy in the capture of data from any form, even tightly spaced, poorly marked and heavily abused documents.' FACTS extends the capabilities of the core system with new capabilities giving marketers the ability to create 'highly customized, infinitely complex surveys that drill deeper and wider into buyer preferences and attitudes'.

One of these, named Telescoding or Telescopic Coding by Optimum, allows marketers to create a 'Tree's Eye' view of any defined subject area, creating a limitless number of 'branches' attached to any question's dimensions, issues, and attributes and deriving a far more refined set of answers. Jeffrey Schneider, EVP of Research & Development and the inventor of both the original FAQSS and new FACTS system, says that 'This one feature alone will revolutionize the future of market research.'

Among other features, ExoForms allows marketers to transcribe verbatims in any language supported by Microsoft Windows; Audio Coding allows clients to import sound files for the purposes of transcription and/or coding; Three Pass Entry provides quality assurance, allowing two operators to enter the same data with only the discrepancies being passed on to a third operator for verification; and Dynamic Survey Processing promises to allow creators to generate custom surveys geared toward each individual respondent and process those surveys within FACTS without requiring template definitions.
