Kraft Opens Research Lab in Switzerland

October 29 2010

Kraft Foods has invested $14m in a gum and candy research lab in Switzerland, housing a team of product and package specialists who will focus on innovation and new product development.

Kraft Opens Research Lab in SwitzerlandStaff at the new European Kraft Foods Gum and Candy Research & Development (R&D) Center in Eysins, will examine and test many existing confectionery brands while also investigating the growing demand for 'quirkier' flavours and oral care products.

Their remit will be to work closely with the firm's Global Gum & Candy Center of Excellence in New Jersey, to drive the creation of new products and packaging for the European market.

'At Kraft Foods, we see this as a great growth opportunity, both for our European business and globally,' states Chuck Davis, VP of Research, Development, and Quality. 'The investment in this new R&D Center makes good business sense, allowing us to drive innovation and growth while delighting consumers with delicious products.'

The new operation joins 14 other Kraft Foods R&D Centers supporting the company's global businesses, which include beverages, biscuits, cheese, chocolate, coffee, and gum and candy product categories.
