Dachis Buys Social Community Builder

In the US, social business consultancy Dachis Group has acquired social media marketing agency and community builder Powered Inc. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Peter KimDachis Group, which was founded in 2008 by Razorfish co-founder Jeffrey Dachis, defines 'social business' as 'a new way of structuring businesses to harness opportunities presented by customer participation, workforce collaboration, and business partner optimization.' It works with global businesses to help them make the best use of new social tools, trends and technologies.

Powered offers a combination of strategy, planning, activation and management for social presence and programs, including those centered on Facebook, mobile apps, influencer activation, community building, and content and experiential marketing.

The acquisition of Powered will increase Dachis Group staff to more than 220 professionals based in ten cities in five countries worldwide. With Powered, Dachis Group says it has expanded its existing North American footprint, established a presence in New York, and also bolstered its Austin, Texas and Portland, Oregon locations.
