December 22 2010

In the US AERS, owner of eBay research tool Terapeak, has closed a $4m round of funding, which it will use to accelerate growth and expand its data aggregation capabilities.

Fred SpeckeenAERS (Advanced Ecommerce Research Systems) is the sole licensor of eBay data globally. Its Terapeak-branded SaaS solutions aggregate more than 20% of all online commerce sales data to help merchants make business decisions based on real-time market trends, pricing and transaction data.

Earlier this year, the company expanded its eBay market research solution to encompass analysis of activity taking place through PayPal.

The firm's latest funding was led by growth equity firm Georgian Partners, which has added two representatives to AERS's Board of Directors.

'AERS chose to work with Georgian Partners because of their specific market knowledge of big data and applied analytics,' explained Fred Speckeen, CEO of AERS. 'This funding and guidance will allow us to expand our product offering and truly establish ourselves as a global leader in real-time ecommerce analytics. Together we are bringing what were formerly 'big company' data analytics and market research to all ecommerce merchants.'
