SSI Opens Health Division

March 15 2011

In the US, Survey Sampling International (SSI) has launched a new healthcare sampling business to support health-related market research projects. Company veteran Chris DeAngelis has been appointed to head the new division.

Chris DeAngelisThe new SSI Health unit provides access to all major healthcare audiences - patients, caregivers, and physicians - as well as to allied health professionals such as nurses/nurse practitioners, pharmacists, chiropractors and dentists. Its reach extends across a range of therapeutic categories, including metabolic syndrome, central nervous system and mental health disorders, respiratory ailments and lifestyle treatments.

In addition to online access, SSI Health provides the offline sampling modes of landline phone, mobile/wireless and address-based sampling. By offering a range of data collection approaches, SSI says it is ensuring that healthcare researchers can reach any audiences they need - even populations with rare conditions, segments not well covered by the Internet and patients in cell phone-only households.

'Recognizing the unique challenges healthcare researchers face, SSI has created a dedicated team, focused on creating and delivering sample for health-related projects,' states DeAngelis. 'By linking to multiple sources, SSI can access anyone who wants to share opinions and experiences, even those who would never join a panel.'

DeAngelis (pictured) brings 25 years' sampling expertise to his new role. He first joined SSI in 1986 as an Account Executive and was most recently appointed VP, Sales, North America in 2003.

Mark Hardy, the firm's MD, Americas says DeAngelis' experience across multiple industries, including healthcare, combined with his understanding of sampling science make him the 'ideal candidate' to lead SSI Health.
