Two More Senior Promotions for Rentrak

US-based multi-screen audience measurement firm Rentrak has promoted Michael Vinson to Senior Vice President of Statistical Sciences and Analytics, and Gordon Jones to the post of VP of its OnDemand Essentials service.

Michael Vinson and Gordon JonesRentrak, which is headquartered in Portland Oregon with additional US and international locations, offers box office, multi-screen TV and home video measurement. Its OnDemand Essentials solution is a web-based reporting system providing a daily view of those users who watch/listen to video or audio content online, either through their PCs or on mobile devices.

Vinson (pictured), who was formerly VP of Statistical Sciences and Analytics, joined the firm in 2009, and has since worked on the launch of the firm's TV Essentials and StationView Essentials products. The firm said in a statement that his expertise working with set-top-box (STB) data for audience measurement, as well as his statistical modeling experience have contributed to the company's 'transformation from a data company to one that provides knowledge-based insights'.

Vinson's previous experience includes a combination of mathematics and theoretical physics as applied to media and advertising, having most recently worked as SVP and MD of Digital Insights and Analytics at Starcom Media Vest Group. Before this, he was Chief Research Scientist at erinMedia, where he was granted seven patents relating to mathematical methods for estimating demographics from privacy-compliant digital set-top box data.

Jones served most recently as Director of Business Development of the OnDemand Essentials suite of business intelligence products. He joined the company in 2008 to help drive business growth with his industry experience in video on demand (VOD), broadband and linear platforms.

Before joining, Jones was VP of Affiliate Sales and Business Development for Expo Communications where he led the group's on demand and broadband distribution efforts with such companies as AOL, Comcast, Time Warner Cable and Yahoo! Earlier, he worked for Bloomberg and HBO.
