MRA's Capital Idea

June 13 2011

US professional body the MRA will relocate its headquarters from Connecticut to Washington, DC from December 1st this year. The move is expected to strengthen its advocacy of the industry, consolidate staff and give it access to better resources.

The decision was announced by association President Elisa Galloway at MRA's 53rd Annual Conference, held in Washington itself. Galloway says that with a full-time lobbyist and a Washington base, MRA (the Marketing Research Association) will enjoy the benefits of daily interaction with Members of Congress, Congressional staff, and officials at regulatory agencies such as the FTC and FCC.

Recent initiatives by the association have included modernizing its Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws, lowering dues for multiple memberships, free webinars, a web site overhaul and the launch of a new conference for Corporate Researchers, in September.

Galloway says the decision should benefit members 'for decades to come'. CEO David Almy adds: 'MRA's move to Washington strengthens the association's ability to work daily with others to protect the research profession's interests before officials in Federal, State and International governments. This is an exciting time for our members and profession'.

The organisation was founded in 1957 and is online at www.marketingresearch.org .
