September 14 2011

San Francisco-based mobile analytics and behavioral targeting firm Apsalar has raised $5m in a Series A round of funding, earmarked for growing its development team, expanding its portfolio and ramping up sales and marketing.

Michael OiknineApsalar's mobile analytics and behavioral targeting platform helps developers to understand how their apps are used, and to identify and deliver personalized content and offers to their most valuable users.

The latest funding round has been led by Thornvest Ventures, with participation from Battery Ventures, DN Capital and several existing investors. The new round follows Apsalar's $800k seed funding late last year from 500 Startups, Mark Goines, Morado Venture Partners, Founder's Co-op and Seraph Group. As a result of the Series A investment, Thornvest MD Don Butler joins Apsalar's Board of Directors.

Apsalar co-founder and CEO Michael Oiknine comments: 'The size of this funding and breadth of investors that have shown interest in Apsalar validates the need for advanced behavioral analytics and targeting in the mobile apps industry.'
