Clothing Firm Plans Social Media Analytics Move

In the US, apparel company Obscene Jeans Corp. (OBJE) says it is expanding into the social media development business via a new division, Obscene Interactive, which will shortly announce an acquisition or strategic partnership in the field of social media analytics.

Rachel Stark-CappelliObscene Interactive will focus on bringing interactive platforms including social media, e-marketing channels and pay-per-click advertising media to market. The firm says it will either buy or partner with a California-based social media analytics company to enable it to deliver consumer sentiment data from social media platforms, and help OBJE's clients better market their products and analyse consumers' impressions of their brands.

OBJE CEO Rachel Stark-Cappelli comments: 'Extracting the right kind of data from social media platforms will enable our clients to be more proactive in their marketing efforts. The technology this analytics company brings to the table will help change the way our clients interact with their markets. We believe it's a product with multi-million-dollar market potential.'

OBJE says it plans to finalize a letter of intent with the California company later this week.
