Google Launches US Election Tracking Hub

Google has launched an election site ahead of the 2012 presidential race, through which users can track candidates' popularity based on numbers of Google searches, Google News mentions and YouTube video views.

Google's election trackerThe new Google Politics & Elections page also enables voters, journalists and political campaigners to sort through election information by popularity, race or issues, while its 'Trends Dashboard' can be used to track trends relating to each candidate.

Eric Hysen, a member of the Google Politics & Election Team, comments: 'Just in time for the Iowa Caucuses, we're launching an election hub where citizens can study, watch, discuss, learn about, participate in and perhaps even make an impact on the digital campaign trail as it blazes forward to Tuesday, November 6, 2012.'
