'First Ever' Pattern-Based Social Media Tool

In the US, analytics specialist Quantum Leap Innovations has launched what it describes as the 'first ever' pattern-based analytics tool for social media, providing quantified intelligence on social trends by distilling Twitter content.

The firm was launched in 1999 and assists with forecasting and decision-making by identifying patterns in human behavior through the analysis of large sets of data.

Through its new 'Quantum Leap Buzz' tool, users enter a word or phrase to bring up tweets which are organized into topics and then further categorized into themes. The firm says the results give an immediate sense of the popularity of each theme within a topic, as well as a view of how closely those tweets match the initial search criteria. Users can also set up dashboards with scheduled searches that gauge public sentiment on any subject in the Twitterverse.

Buzz's capabilities include detecting patterns of sentiment around specific issues, obtaining emerging news stories before they are reported in the media, and gaining intelligence before the competition. It can also be used to obtain trending developments, with updates texted directly to the user's cell phone.
