US Demographics Tool Launched

In the US, research publisher Gale has set up an online business and residential reference tool providing demographic data on more than 23 million businesses and 206 million consumers.

Gale is part of learning and research solutions specialist Cengage, which provides tools used by academics, professionals and libraries worldwide.

The firm's new 'DemographicsNow: Business & People' online tool offers demographic information on any US geography - including information on income, housing, race, age, education and retail spending; plus the ability to compare multiple geographies and drill down to data on a specific county.

Additionally, users can map their results, create custom geographies, and view demographic variables in thematic colored scales.

Business searches can be conducted by company name, business type and number of employees, while approximately 135 million households can be searched by name, address or a variety of US Census data averages.

Gerald Sawchuk, Gales's Publisher, Public Library Solutions, says the new tool 'combines information and tools normally found in two or more online databases in one convenient location, offering a cost-effective alternative to current products on the market.'
