Canadian Pharma Data Firm Launches

Canada has a new pharmaceutical data tracking specialist, TH!NK Business Insights, with a first offering due in January 2013.

TH!NK Sales will use an Oracle-based data warehouse and track shipment data from manufacturers and wholesalers to pharmacy outlets and hospitals. Further services are scheduled covering prescribing trends, drug usage and market analysis for use in forecasting and drug development.

The company, which secured private venture funding in June this year, has offices in Toronto and Montreal and is run by CEO Andy Burgess, President Tom Zelenka, COO Mark Maciw, Chief Commercial Officer Terri Power and CTO John Ching.

Among its benefits, the company lists rapid data verification and built-in integrity monitoring tools; delivery to customers within ten days of month end; an advanced OLAP data model for real-time data slicing and dicing feeding customized dashboards and ad hoc reports; embedded trend alerts highlighting unusual sales patterns; cloud-based hosting; and a data architecture providing 'true integrated provincial level pricing'.

Ching says the company will combine modern BI technology with big data, while Burgess comments: 'We have responded to a resounding call from the industry for an alternative provider of pharmaceutical data here in Canada. TH!NK not only provides an alternative, but our initial product offering will offer speed, accuracy and value unrivalled in the marketplace.'
