Roy Morgan Buys Business News Service

Australian market and opinion researcher Roy Morgan has acquired the ABIX business news service from intelligence provider Lexis Nexis, and will offer clients financial information services. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The firm, which has offices in each state of Australia, and in New Zealand, the US and the UK, conducts a range of research including financial behaviour, readership, voting intentions and consumer confidence.

CEO Michele Levine (pictured) said the acquisition of ABIX gives her firm a 'logical pathway' into business, finance and stock market news, and will allow the company to add further value for customers of its market research business.

ABIX, which produces summaries or abstracts of business stories from Australian metropolitan and financial daily newspapers and periodicals, will expand into the online provision of finance news, information and commentary and will also provide summaries of business news from key global dailies in co-operation with major international news organisations.

The business will be managed by News Bites, a wholesale supplier of stock market news and information in Australia.
