ShopperTrak Buys RapidBlue

June 3 2013

US-based footfall analyst ShopperTrak has acquired retail data and analytics firm RapidBlue Solutions Oy, based in Helsinki.

ShopperTrak Buys RapidBlueShopperTrak, which claims to count more retail foot traffic than any other company in the world, analysing traffic levels, queue times and shopper demographics and has more than 200 employees. In addition to its Chicago HQ it has offices in San Francisco; High Wycombe, UK; Dubai, UAE; and Shenzhen, China.

RapidBlue has announced a string of launches in the last year, including an off-line stats app, a new metric, 'Gross Shopping Hours' (GSH), a tool analysing networks' location data, a 3-D shopper mapping tool and a POS integrated product.

The firm's radio frequency technology, which collects shopper movement information, will be integrated into ShopperTrak's current in-store counting solutions, while the buy also gives it a new corporate research and development center in Europe and a sales office for Scandinavia, Russia and Eastern Europe.

ShopperTrak CEO Christopher Ainsley comments: 'RapidBlue's ability to collect anonymised data based on shopper movement inside stores increases the value of our portfolio of industry-leading products and services. Combined with our recent acquisition of ReTel Technologies, ShopperTrak now offers premium interior analytics capabilities that blend the best of video and location-based analytics.'

For RapidBlue, CEO Gavin Weigh says the deal will 'provide customers with greater functionality and quality of service'. He adds: 'Retailers and mall managers will benefit from ShopperTrak's comprehensive suite of technology and services designed to continuously improve both customer experience and their own businesses.'
