CSC Acquires Big Data Firm Infochimps

IT services giant CSC has acquired Austin, Texas-based enterprise big data company Infochimps, whose engineers and analytics professionals will help in its aim of building a 'complete big data solution'. Terms were not disclosed.

Infochimps, which also has an office in Redwood City, California, provides three cloud services which offer real-time processing and streaming, batch Hadoop, and ad hoc queries for actionable analytics. The deal will give it access to CSC's global network of 87,000 employees, including developers, consultants, technologists and cybersecurity experts, as well as its global sales, marketing and delivery teams.

Infochimps CEO Jim Kaskade (pictured right) says the two firms 'share leadership values of intellectual honesty and commitment to excellence' and adds: 'the synergy between our companies presents a strong value proposition for the largest Global 2000 public companies.' CSC's CTO Dan Hushon (pictured left) comments: 'CSC's customers are looking for both deep analytics and real-time correlation through a pre-integrated cloud platform. The joint CSC-Infochimps capabilities give our customers the ability to provision their analytic platform, point their data streams and deliver new industry insights.'
